Chicago Trip Part 1: "Too Bad We Didn't Get Any Pictures"

We left for Chicago on Wednesday night and kind of planned to drive through the night. We decided before we left that that probably wouldn't happen. We ended up stopping at about 4:30 in the morning in South Bend, IN at Bob's cousin's house. One of the fun things about that is that Jaide got to play with some second cousins. Yay second cousins! Too bad we didn't get any pictures. The drive was pretty uneventful.
We bought a double stroller off of Craig's List in Chicago so we wouldn't have to bring ours.
Meg pushes the stroller we got in Chicago through the Lego store at the mall. Yes, they devoted an entire store to Legos. No, we didn't buy any.
Unfortunately, we liked it and decided to bring it home with us instead of donating it before we left. It folds up much smaller than our other one, woo hoo!
We stayed at the Hyatt Summerfield Suites in Schaumburg. It was a pretty nice place. Too bad we didn't get any pictures of it. It was a nice looking room with a little kitchen. They also had free breakfast and "reception" which is food in the evening time during the week. We also enjoyed the pool and not too hot hot tub (even Jaide could go in it). We got floaties for Jaide and Kiree and it was pretty cute to see them in the pool. Too bad we didn't get any pictures.
On Friday we met up with the family people for lunch at Woodfield Mall. It used to be the largest mall in the country. I don't know if it is any more. But we used to come out to that mall on occasion since my mom worked near by. We ate at A&W (yum rootbeer!) and "finalized our itinerary plans" (ie we talked and still didn't come up with exactly what we were doing).
Kathy, Rusty, Amber, and Mick at A&W.

Then we broke up and wandered the mall for a bit. I was very pleased to find the adorable little baby gap swimsuit I had wanted to get for Kiree on clearance at the Baby Gap store at the mall- in just the right size! I'm sure we'll get a picture of it at some point.

Mom aka Grammy drinking some rootbeer.
Then we all had some dinner back at our place since we were so close to the mall and since we had a DVD player in our room, we watched Enchanted from the Redbox for free* *we've yet to actually get a free Redbox movie since we never manage to return it by the time it's due and always end up paying for one extra day.
Tomorrow: Part 2 Far More Interesting, I Promise

I did forget to mention our audio entertainment during the drive. Bob picked out some random audio books (as he is wont to do when we've got a long drive) but I also picked out a few things that I knew would be good. So in summary,Bob's Random audio: Digital Fortress by Dan Brown- pretty dumb. No Country for Old Men- we didn't listen to past the first 2 min, it was pretty much what I thought it would be from what little I knew about the movie. Meg's selections: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets- Jaide kind of liked it, she likes the movie. It was interesting to listen to the book again after watching the movie so many times. Here Come the 123's by They Might be Giants- we all liked this music CD. a lot of great songs much like Here Come the ABC's. Jaide wanted to listen again and again and we didn't mind too much.
