We Love Wall-e

One of Kiree's favorite things to say these days is "wall-e." Not because of the movie, but because of the robot vacuum of the same name. We sure do enjoy that vacuum. Here's a video for your enjoyment.

It's Official!

I'm finally an aunt! My very first niece, Alyssa Janene was born at 12:52 pm today. And I think it was right on her due date, like both her cousins. She weighed in at 6 lbs, 8 oz and is 20 inches long. For those who may be wondering, this is Bob's sister Emily and her husband Travis (or "Tramily")'s baby. My sister Kathy and her husband Rusty (together they're "Rathy") are expecting a boy in April.

Weight Up Kiree

Today Kiree had her 15 month check up. She is now 18lbs 13oz which is on the 3rd percentile for weight. She finally made it back up on the chart! Kiree is 31.75" long (between 75 and 90th percentiles) and her head circumference is 18" (just under 50th percentile). Kiree was a very good girl at her appointment. She got one shot.

this pic is from those few really warm days we had a little while back, when we actually opened the windows

Valentines and Presidents

For Valentine's Day we had a family date. We had waffles with strawberries and whipped topping for breakfast. Later we went to the Olive Garden for lunch and used our gift cards. Yay! The girls were really good. To bad the little girl at the next table over was screaming loudly for quite a while. But the food was good and we're parents so we've been blessed with the gift of tuning out screaming children. Then we went to Ikea, because I really wanted to go there. We got a wall light for the basement and some other useful stuff. Jaide and Kiree were lying down together in the cart for a little while. It was very cute. Kiree was a tired little girl because she missed her nap. She went to bed right after dinner (leftover Olive Garden and some salad). The rest of us had some chocolate dip in the mini crockpot with marshmellows, strawberries, and pretzel rods.

Kiree enjoys a Valentine's treat from my visiting teachers.

Monday was President's Day- a federal holiday. Bob doesn't usually take off all those holidays since he's not getting paid for them any more, but he did take off yesterday. I was explaining to Jaide what President's day was and that daddy wasn't going to work because it was a holiday. Jaide said, "I can't wait to see the president!" Because I guess that's what she thought you did on President's day?... She also said yesterday that she wished there were two of Bob so that she could play games with one and the other could help me get things done around the house. That is what we did yesterday, work and play a little bit. We managed to not get dressed or shower, but we did pull out the nasty rubber mat that was glued to the bottom of our shower. And we scrubbed off all the glue residue. It looks much better! We put up that wall light we bought at Ikea and we went through deleting the tons of files on our desktop computer that have just been saved and resaved through various installations and which we really didn't need. So lots of random stuff.

I'm a Giver

I had a $20 Kohls cash thing I needed to use by today so we went shopping this morning. I was going to get something for me, but I ended up getting a little people play set for the girls. It was on sale for just a couple of bucks over $20.

Goals Update

How did I do with my goals in January and up to now? Let's take a look
1. Sticking to the budget- so far so good!
2. save or earn $50 per week- I made it to about $130 for the month of January, a bit short.
3. gym 3X per week, or at least 1 1/2hr exercise at home- some weeks were better than others. I've been doing better lately since I discovered exercise shows on fios and on demand. BYU tv even has an exercise show.
4. focus on eating fruits and veggies rather than not eating certain things- not as good on this one. I think I do need to not eat some certain things. It's hard to not eat too much of chocolate chips or some other things. I have been trying to buy more veggies and fruits.
5-8 organization and cleaning goals- we've been doing well running wall-e just about every night. The kids love it. We've also been cleaning off the table and Jaide frequently washes it before bath time. Some weeks have been better than others for planning out meals in advance. That goal still needs a little work. I'd better go do the flylady mission for today.

Patapsco State Park

this picture is from their website, we didn't see anything that looked like that yesterday
We've had some really nice weather the last two days. I don't know how long that will last though.
But fortunately we got out in the nice weather yesterday. We met Bob's cousin Mary and her family at Patapsco State Park. I forgot to bring the camera of course. It was a lot of fun. They cooked hotdogs at one of the little picnic areas near this big playground made of various sized tires. After lunch we roasted some marshmellows (or shmallos as Jaide calls them). Jaide loved playing with her second cousins. Kiree just loved being allowed to walk outdoors. Bob wasn't there since he was in D.C. at a conference. All of the kids except Kiree tried to dig underneath some tree stumps looking for buried treasure left by some pirates or something. We went on a little hike and Jaide walked the whole time (yay!) I carried Kiree but I did let her walk a little bit, holding both of her hands. It was pretty muddy (there was some snow and ice in spots too). Jaide wasn't too happy to get her shoes and clothes all muddy. I guess she is kind of a girly girl. After we got home I threw just about everything into the washing machine. I planned on letting everyones' sneakers air dry, but apparently one of Jaide's shoes got into the dryer and is now noticeably smaller than the other. I guess we'll see tomorrow morning if it affected the fit. :0
