Happy Anniversary Bob!

Today we celebrated 7 years of wuv. This is the first time our anniversary has fallen on a Sunday. We had homemade lasagna and a big heart shaped cookie with icecream tonight. Yesterday we put up a wall cabinet in the kitchen, played some bad tennis while the kids rode bikes around the courts, and went to the Olive Garden for dinner. We seem to have a lot of fun together no matter what we do.
I sure enjoy being married to my Bob!

Art Week Recap

The Art Week Banner at the end of the week. Only when taking it down did I realize that Jaide had glue sticked portions of it to the wall.

I'm not sure what I'd call this week's theme. Possibly no theme. TV week, or miscellaneous week don't sound too good. But last week was pretty fun.
Here's how art week went
We did finger painting (I made the finger paint, tempera paints reeks by the way, well old paint at least).
Jaide made a collage and one of those pictures where you scratch black crayon off the top of a rainbow of crayon colors. We colored up a storm with crayons. Made a mess with tempera paints and ink. On Saturday we went down to Washington DC to see the National Gallery of Art. We borrowed a book from the library a couple months ago about Leonardo daVinci. From that book we learned that there is only one of his paintings in the Western Hemisphere and it's at the National Gallery of Art.
The front of Ginevra de’ Benci by da Vinci.
So of course we had to see that.
The back of Ginevra de’ Benci by da Vinci.

We also saw a Raphael but no Michaelangelo or Donatello. "baby" Kiree said of this painting

We had a picnic outside afterwards.

A picture of us riding the metro. This was two days before the metro crash, but on a different line.

Wow Kiree!

Tonight when we were getting the girls ready for bed, Kiree said "potty" and then went up to the bathroom door. I asked her if she needed to pee and she shook her head yes. I put her on the potty (on our awesome fold down kid sized seat) and she went pee in the potty. That was the first time ever. We haven't even started potty training yet. She has asked to sit on the potty a couple of times before, but it's usually just because Jaide did. So there you go. I guess we'll see if she does it again.
This toilet seat is similar to the one we have. Our seat has two latches to keep the little seat up when you don't need it. We got it at Target.

Summer Plans and the Terrible Twos

It's true-the terrible twos do start at about 18months. Kiree Kiddo has become "something else" lately. I had to put her in timeout in her crib yesterday because she wouldn't stop climbing up the loveseat and trying to pull the big picture above it down on her head. "Bee-you" has become her favorite color to wear, to eat from (bowls/plates), and to just yell out randomly. Kiree's hair is now long enough for a little teeny ponytail but of course, she always takes the hair thing out in the car.

So I made a plan a while back for dealing with having both the kids home all day every day this summer. Each week we're going to do fun activities based on a weekly theme. Last week was money week. We tried to learn about the different coins and the dollar. We also went to the credit union to set up an account for Jaide. I think it will take a while for Jaide to retain the coin name/value info. We got a little sidetracked last week with other stuff. Like getting the heatpump replaced (don't worry, it was planned) which took 7.5hrs- a little more than I thought it would. The old unit, in pieces. The new outside unit is huge!
This week is art week. Jaide loves art. No, she loves, loves, loves art. We made a paper banner mural on the wall. The bad thing about putting paper on the wall to color on is that some young children then think the ban on coloring on the actuall wall has been lifted.
Last week I bought 120 Crayola crayons for the girls. We opened them up and started using them on Monday. As of Wednesday morning, how many crayons do you suppose are broken?

Preschool Graduation

My baby graduated from preschool today. The kids each got a little certificate that had their name on it. When we were leaving this afternoon, Jaide asked, "What is this for?" Bob and I chuckled. * We've had similar thoughts about our various diplomas which, coincidentally, are in a pile in the basement closet.
Jaide gets her certificate from her teacher.
Jaide and Ms. Debbie.
Kiree gets a lift so she can see the graduation.

And here's the cute part, Jaide's class performs "Kindergarten Here We Come"
