Luke at 5 months

I started this blog when I was pregnant with Kiree and I wrote about the things she did when she was a baby.  Since Luke was born, I've been going back through and reading some of those posts to help me remember what I did and what Kiree did at different stages.  It's been helpful, so I'm going to try and record things with Luke too.  It's amazing how soon you forget so much.
Just before turning 5 months, we started feeding Luke solid food.  We would have waited longer, but he really wanted food.  He would get so mad when we had dinner and didn't share.  He's pretty good at eating (for a baby obviously, he still makes slightly more of a mess than Jaide does).   We started out letting him chew on some whole foods which he liked, but he wasn't very good at grasping stuff and that really frustrated him.  We started making him pureed food in the baby bullet and he loved it.  He does want to hold the spoon though and I let him.  I help him a bit, but he gets to hold the spoon as he's taking the food off it.  He's had bananas, apples, pears, green beans, sweet potatoes, carrots, and squash.  He also enjoys sucking on plums that I've bitten the peel off of.  He had avocado too, but he didn't like it.  All the other stuff he really likes.  He usually eats one baby bullet jar of food at lunch and at dinner.
Luke is getting better at sitting up by himself.  He still falls over from time to time (or folds himself in half) but he can sit up all by himself for short periods.  Not that he could get to sitting up without being put there in the first place though.  He often grabs his feet and then rolls to his side and then onto his tummy.  He usually can't get back onto his back from his tummy and he doesn't like being on his tummy for very long.
Luke's gotten better at grabbing things lately.  He has a few toys that he loves to grab and bite and slobber all over.  And sometimes he can really throw stuff far!  No teeth yet, but you can see the spot in his bottom gum where they're working their way up.

On good days, Luke takes two naps, one after we take the girls to school and one at about 1 or 2 o'clock in the afternoon.  Sometimes he naps in his crib, sometimes in his carseat or the stroller.  He's usually a good night time sleeper.  Bedtime is between 7 and 8pm and he usually sleeps until somewhere between 3 and 6 in the morning.  After a feeding, he usually goes back to sleep until everybody gets up (7 or 8).
Luke's a pretty happy baby, for the most part.  He loves watching people, especially his sisters when they're playing or doing crazy stuff (as long as it's not bothering him).  We've been doing "baby stats" on the wii fit nearly every day.  It's interesting to see the fluctuations even in such a little one.  He's just under 16lbs right now.  Next month, at his check up, we'll find out how long he is.  He's a tall baby, that much we know!

Does any of the food actually make it inside? He seems to mostly just be wearing it. :)

Yes, some of it does make it in and about a day later out again. He likes to hold his own spoon though, so a lot of it does end up on him rather than in him.
