No Shave and a Haircut

Bob hopped on the no shave bandwagon in November.  After a month, this is about how thick his beard got.  It was quite a bit longer in a couple of places, but he trimmed it just before this picture.  He shaved it all off eventually in December.
Luke got a much shorter haircut.  He looked a lot more like his cousin Asher, although this isn't a good picture to demonstrate that.

Thanksgiving and Cousins!

Bob's sister Emily and her family came down from Boston to spend Thanksgiving with us.  We had a fun time with them.  The kids were super excited to get to play with their cousins.  Emily and Travis made us lots of yummy food.  They are wonderful guests!  On Thanksgiving we also had a couple from our ward over for dinner.  They brought a yummy jello salad.  I made many pies.  It took a while to eat them all.  The day after Thanksgiving, Emily and I went to the craft store to get some deals.  Later in the day we went to Fort McHenry.  It was freezing out there.  That night after we got all the kids into bed my friend Becky who I'm in a babysitting co-op with was so nice as to come and babysit for all of us so we could go see Catching Fire at the movie theater.  The movie was awesome.  Saturday they had to head back home.  We were so glad they came for a visit.
Here are some pictures

trying to get a group cousin photo is hard

We put up the tree before Thanksgiving but officially lit it after dinner on Thanksgiving

The next day the kids helped put the ornaments on

We went to Fort McHenry on black Friday.  It was very, very cold.  I came in to warm up during the ranger talk.  Eventually Alyssa and Evan joined me.

It wasn't too cold inside the actual fort, it wasn't too bad inside the basement area

They look a bit too cheerful to be locked up in jail

that's more like it Jaide

possibly the only picture I got with Travis and Emily in it.  I was slacking on the picture taking

Activity Day Talent Show/Recognition Night

For our activity day in November we had a talent show/ recognition night.  The girls brought in art, performed music, danced, sang, and shared a movie.  I had wanted very much to show a slideshow of pictures from our activities during the year, but since we'd had computer issues a few months back, finding the pictures proved to be way too tricky.  I think some of them are just lost :(

Crazy Legs

Earlier this month I started having painful hard veins in my leg.  I woke up one day with one leg crossed over the other and from the way my leg felt and how it looked (red, hot, lumpy) I thought I had a superficial clot.  I finally went in to the doctor and she had me go to a nearby radiology place.  When the ultrasound technician say no clot, I was shocked.  The doctor wanted me to get someone else to look at my leg and scheduled me an appointment with a vein doctor.  They very thoroughly ultrasounded my leg again and confirmed there were no clots, but they suggested I get the vein closed.  So next month I will be getting that seriously damaged vein closed.  I've been wearing the compression stockings they gave me that day ever since.  My leg doesn't hurt as much now, but the vein is still hard and my skin is bruised looking.  It's always something!

November Birthdays Celebration

The kindergarten team decided to celebrate all the birthdays each month on one day since the school board doesn't want the children to have more than one food activity per month.  I'm one of the room parents for Kiree's class so I got to coordinate the treats for the November birthdays.  I also got to come in and help out.  Luke came with me.  Kiree came along when it was Jaide's birthday celebration day when she was in kindergarten.
We stuck around for center time and headed outside to wait for both of the girls just before dismissal.

Busy Times

PTA and Girl Scouts have been keeping me busy lately.  I'm up at school a lot for treasurer stuff and other volunteering stuff.  I'm a co-leader for Kiree's daisy troop.  I planned the activity the last time we met.  We were learning about money and how much the different bills and coins are worth.  I made a bunch of paper money printed in color.  I brought in a bunch of coins to look at.  It was a bit crazy.  We need to finish up next time.
I made these cookies for the 5th grade musical bake sale.  They are soft sugar cookies with cookie dough frosting.  The bake sale was quite successful.  They are raising money for the 5th grade social at the end of the year.

Turkeys

I made some paper turkeys for the display case at school.  If I'd had a little more time I would have made it a little cuter, but it worked okay.  Luke was my little "helper" while I set it up.
The kids school usually has a turkey trot- about 1mi long run/walk before Thanksgiving break.  It ended up getting cancelled due to the bad weather.  Maybe next year I can make a display of trotting turkeys.

Pumpkins

I bought three huge pumpkins on Halloween.  We finally got around to carving two of them the week after.  The third I eventually got to.  The girls each carved one and after a few pictures, we stuck them in the oven.  We had a lot of pumpkin seeds and a lot of cooked pumpkin.  I ended up sharing the pumpkin with whoever wanted some at church.  We still have plenty.  I made pumpkin ice cream with one bag full.  It was tasty.

we weighed the pumpkins, they were all well over 20lbs

6 Years Old

Our little Kiree is six years old!  Kiree was excited to get to go to school on her birthday.  During the morning announcements they wish happy birthday to all the birthdays that day.  Kiree also got to bring in her "all about me" poster and share it with her class.  Kiree got to bring home "writing bear" for the weekend.

For dinner that night, Kiree wanted to go to Pizza Hut, so that's what we did.  I made mini cakes for dessert.  We gave Kiree her present and she actually got to open it while we were web chatting with Grandma and Aunt Rosie.  She had some other calls from family members to sing her happy birthday.  It was a pretty good day.
